Chris Powell signed Arsenal midfielder, Emmanuel Frimpong, on loan until New Year’s Day on Monday morning.

20-year-old Frimpong is a combative, box-to-box midfielder who will add real quality to the central area. Frimpong made a good impression at Wolves last year before a cruciate injury to his right knee sidelined him.

The Ghana born player is a regular in Arsenal’s ‘cup team’ and has played in both the Premier League and Champions League for the Gunners, as well as appearing in the Premier League for Wolves during his loan spell at Molineux.

The move is not a total surprise, there were strong rumours towards the end of last week and it is possible the deal could be extended.

Chris Powell was naturally delighted and had this to say after sealing Frimpong’s signature:

We’re really happy that he’s coming in to join our squad, and we welcome him to the club,” said manager Chris Powell.

“We’ve had our eye on him (Frimpong) for a while, and with the busy Christmas period to come, I felt it was right to make sure that we are covered in all areas.

We hope that does very well for us in the red or black of Charlton.”

Frimpong will wear the number 26 shirt for Charlton.
